Why we built free farm calculators with no login, no downloads, and no Excel. What's live, what's coming, and how to get notified when new tools launch.
We started Turnrow because agricultural calculators online are, frankly, terrible.
You know the pattern. You need a calving date or a loan payment, so you search. You land on a university extension page with a PDF from 2011. Or a bank site that wants you to create an account before it shows you a number. Or an Excel download that breaks the minute you open it on your phone in the pickup.
Farmers make high-stakes decisions with incomplete information every day. Spreadsheets break on phones. Software wants a subscription before you know if it helps. That gap is what Turnrow is built to fill.
What we built first
We shipped calculators that cover the questions we heard most often:
- Cattle gestation calculator: Enter a breeding or AI date and your breed. Get a calving window, trimester milestones, and days remaining. Share the result with your vet or night-check crew in two taps.
- Goat gestation calculator: Standard and miniature breeds with kidding windows, CDT timing, and trimester milestones.
- Sheep gestation calculator: 147-day lambing calculator with breed selection, week-by-week timeline, and gestation chart.
- Farm loan payment calculator: Run land, equipment, operating, and livestock loans with monthly, quarterly, or annual payments. Full amortization schedule you can print before a lender meeting.
- Grain bin volume calculator: Plug in bin diameter and wall height. Know bushel capacity by grain type before harvest fills every bin you have.
All of these run in your browser. No login. No download. No app to install.
What’s coming next
We are building more tools based on what farmers actually ask for:
- Calving date planner (backward from a target calving season)
- Stocking rate calculator
- Cattle ration calculator
- Crop breakeven calculator
- Horse and hog gestation calculators
Several of those are already in development because someone filled out the suggest-a-tool form and told us what they needed.
